Dan Gurney! Even the dried-up old fucks at Bike ‘N’ Hike knew that name… one of the first BMX framesets they carried back then. I blew their mins telling them stories about John Piant though: the winningest BMX racer of the time (way before that fucking cop pig Thompsen), who went on to become the driver of the Bigfoot monster truck in the early eighties–right up until he crashed that motherfucker straight into the bleachers somewhere in NorCal. Crystal meth’s a hell of a drug. Dude now fucks around with beach buggies somewhere on the beach outside of San Luis Obispo. Yellow and blue!
I made a whole zine about that motherfucker. Well, him and that James Vance kid who blew his face off after smoking weed and listening to the Judas Priest album “Stained Class” over and over…. but some dickhead threw all my old zines and stuff in the trash, back in the Old Country. Life’s a bitch like that.
